Wisdom Training Days 

This Law of Three as Spiritual Practice Training Series will offer a very 'practical teaching' of the Law of Three  with monthly ‘Midwife groups’ — opportunities for small groups to explore how to apply the Law of Three  within their own lives. Each training day will offer a morning of Law of Three teaching, anchored in a Wisdom  school format. Together we will explore the Law of Three lines of action, highlighting ways these lines interact  that can be tracked/contemplated, midwifed and engaged as part of one’s prayer.  Working with an 'anchoring facilitator', in the afternoons a small group of three - five people will engage current life happenings,  working together with the map of the Law of Three as the lens.  

In 2013 Cynthia Bourgeault published The Holy Trinity and the Law  of Three: Discovering the Radical Truth at the Heart of Christianity. The following year Marcella Kraybill-Greggo attended a Wisdom  School where Cynthia unpacked her book, highlighting some  teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff. The “Law of Three” refers to an assertion  that every phenomena is a new arising that comes into being through  three distinct lines of action. The first force is holy affirming, the  second holy denying, and third force holy reconciling. This teaching  posits that the Law of Three is more ‘midwifed/mediated than taught’  and Marcella came home from that Wisdom school wanting to experiment in a small group setting. We are often  ‘third force blind’ in our own lives and need others to help midwife what is truly wanting to be born, this  teaching highlights. So, how do we learn what it means to help midwife this process in another…to aid in their  ‘arising’…and how might we help in midwifing what is happening within our own lives? With those curiosities  and a desire to listen deeply, Law of Three midwife groups were created. 

“Just as it takes three independent strands of hair to make a braid, so it takes three individual lines of force to  make a new arising”. Until this third force enters, the other two forces remain at impasse. These three lines of  action are free of moral judgment and they are neither "good" or "bad" (Bourgeault, 2013, p. 26). 

“Denying (second force), says Cynthia in her Law of Three book, is  never an obstacle to be overcome but always a legitimate and  essential component of the new manifestation… The “enemy” is never  the enemy but a necessary part of the “givens” in any situation, and  solutions will never work that have as their goal the elimination of  second force” (p. 29).  

Our four Training days will be anchored in a Wisdom School rhythm with times of centering prayer, chant,  movement, and regular times of teaching. Each month will also include a 2 hour afternoon small group  Law of Three Midwife session for application of the law of three in small ‘midwife groups’.Come  and learn what it means to help midwife this process in another…to aid in another’s ‘arising’…and, come  

and be supported by others midwifing what is coming to birth within you.

OUR LEADER MARCELLA KRAYBILL-GREGGO 

Marcella Kraybill-Greggo offers her time as a Seminary Director of Spirituality  Programming, a local Wisdom Community facilitator, a Spiritual Director and a  mom. She lives in Bethlehem, PA with her husband, daughter, and their Westie,  Kiwi. She has been an active participant in the Wisdom community since 2013, both as student and teacher, assisted in facilitating multiple Wisdom schools, regularly  offers an 8 month ‘Training in the Practices of Wisdom’, facilitates Law of Three  midwife trainings and groups, and loves all things embodied (trained as an InterPlay  facilitator). She joined the Wisdom Waypoints Council in 2017. 

Bring 2- 3 friends to create a law of three midwife group, or join others interested in exploring the  dynamism of this "Law of world Creation".

LAW OF THREE TRAINING

Date:   Training will be held the 3rd Friday of the month from Jan - April (4th Fri in April).  

Cost:   $350 -- some scholarship money available by request

Time: 9:30am - 12:00noon ET (12:00 - 1:00pm lunch break) 1:00 - 3:00pm ET
